Someone who's been there — walking alongside you through every step of recovery.
Peer support is one of the most evidence-backed elements of lasting recovery — and one of the most underutilized. At Barbell Saves, peer support isn't an afterthought. It's built into the fabric of everything we do. Our peer support specialists are people who have navigated addiction, mental health challenges, and the hard work of rebuilding a life. They're not observers of recovery. They're participants in it.
There's a specific kind of trust that forms between someone in recovery and someone who has genuinely lived it. A peer specialist can say "I've been exactly where you are" and mean it — and that changes the conversation entirely. Clinical therapy and medical care are essential. But sometimes what matters most in a moment is the person sitting across from you who knows what it's like to want to give up and didn't.
Our peer support services are available one-on-one and in group settings. Peer specialists work alongside our clinical team to provide encouragement, accountability, practical navigation help (appointments, resources, housing, employment connections), and the kind of honest, non-judgmental presence that no credential alone can provide. They are fully integrated into your treatment team — not a separate add-on, but a core part of your care.
Peer support at Barbell Saves is also part of what makes the community here different from any other treatment center in Phoenix. The relationships formed here don't end at discharge. Our alumni network and ongoing community events mean that the peer connection you build in treatment continues long after you've completed the program.
