Teen Program

A safe, age-appropriate space for teens to heal, grow, and build a foundation for life.

Adolescence is hard under the best circumstances. When a teenager is also navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, or social isolation, the path forward can feel impossible — for the teen and for the family. The Barbell Saves Teen Program was built specifically for this stage of life, with a clinical approach that respects where teens actually are, not where adults think they should be.

This program is not a scaled-down version of our adult IOP. Teen-specific cohorts mean your teenager will be surrounded by peers in the same age range, working through the same kinds of challenges. Adolescent development, peer relationships, identity formation, and social pressure are all central to how we structure treatment. Our clinicians are trained in adolescent behavioral health and know how to meet teenagers where they are — without lecturing, without shame, and without making the process feel punitive.

The 8 Dimensions of Wellness form the backbone of our curriculum: emotional, intellectual, physical, social, environmental, occupational, financial (age-appropriate), and spiritual wellness. Teens explore each dimension through psychoeducation, movement therapy, group discussion, and creative expression. The goal isn't just symptom reduction — it's building a whole identity that isn't organized around avoidance, substances, or self-harm.

Family involvement is built into this program because research is clear: teens do better in treatment when their family is engaged. We offer family sessions, parent education components, and coaching for parents and guardians on how to support recovery at home without enabling or over-controlling. You don't have to navigate this alone — and neither does your teenager.
